Planet Zoo 2 Animals List — 43 Confirmed Species & Roster Tracker

Planet Zoo 2 animals

Animals List

Quick answer: 43 species have confirmed names and individual pages on this site, split across four categories. Frontier's Zoopedia named six more on October 6, 2026, and the full launch roster shipped with the game on October 13, 2026. Frontier has not published a final official species count, so this page tracks names, not a total.

Frontier confirmed Planet Zoo 2 will keep adding new regions and species after launch, so the roster grows beyond the day-one list. This page tracks the species with confirmed names; the full launch roster landed with the October 13 release, and Update 1.0.4 (October 14) refreshed the in-game Zoopedia content.

Why some species have no page yet. Pages are built one species at a time from verified data, not copied from other sites' lists. When a species is only named and nothing about its in-game requirements is published, it stays on the named list below instead of getting a thin page.

On October 2, 2026 Frontier announced the Final Zoopedia Reveals / Animal Bingo: the last unnamed launch species would be named one batch at a time, with the full roster published around release day. Frontier still has not stated an official total.

Recent reveals:

The 43 species listed above have their own pages here. The October 6 batch is confirmed by name only — individual pages are added as their data is verified, not before. The Zoopedia Guide explains how the in-game encyclopedia is structured.

Standard vs Deluxe

  • Deluxe Edition — adds 6 exclusive species, four of them aquatic (Editions)

What each animal page gets, and when

Planet Zoo 2 unlocked worldwide on October 13, 2026 at 3:00 PM BST (14:00 UTC) — one simultaneous launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Per-species pages fill in only from verified sources: the in-game Zoopedia, Frontier's own published data, or a confirmed playable build. Habitat space, water space, temperature range, group size, food and enrichment values are not carried over from Planet Zoo 1 and are not estimated from a species' real-world needs. Any value that cannot be verified is left marked TBD instead of being filled in with a plausible number.

Cohabitation covers mixing species, and Animal Welfare explains keeping them thriving.
