Career Mode Guide

Quick answer: career mode is an 18-scenario campaign across four chapters. You play as FEN's new Conservation Coordinator, and each scenario is scored Bronze, Silver or Gold. Medals feed a separate Career Accreditation track, and the accreditation tier — not the chapter order — is what unlocks the next chapter. Bronze is enough to keep moving; Gold is for full completion, not for reaching the top tier.

This structure is community-verified across several guides (grade C). Frontier has not published a scenario table, and we have not played through it end to end.

What career mode is

18 scenarios, four chapters, unlocked in order.
FEN — Fauna and Ecosystems Network — is your employer; you are its Conservation Coordinator.
Each scenario has three medal levels: Bronze (core objective), Silver (extra objectives), Gold (everything).
Reaching Bronze or Silver lets you move on; you can come back for missing medals.
Career is separate from Franchise. Career medals do not count toward Franchise accreditation, and Franchise progress does not help career.

Chapter 4 works differently from 1–3: Maluku Islands opens first at Career Tier 4, and clearing Maluku's Bronze unlocks the remaining five Chapter 4 locations.

Medals — what each one takes

You do not need Gold to progress. A scenario can be left at Bronze, revisited later, and upgraded.

The fastest opening route

Earning Your Stripes — Great Rift Valley, Bronze.
Spreading Your Wings — East Africa, Bronze.
Return to Great Rift Valley for Silver.

That yields 2 Bronze + 1 Silver, which is Career Tier 2 — Chapter 2 and Nordic Fjords open.

Known issue on the career path

Community guides report an Aquarium Gate crash in the Nordic Fjords tutorial (Chapter 2). It is a grade D lead, not a verified fix — save before that step and check Frontier's Under Investigation list. Mechanics background: Aquarium Build Guide.
